Stone Axe

77. Large Stone axe. An ancient stone axe from the West Indies. It seems impossible that this was ever used as a weapon or tool and was probably some kind of votive object. Not much is known about these but for a similar monolithic axe see The national museum of the American Indian, Catalog number 5/3435. There example has an estimated date of 250 BC-1500 AD and was found on Saint Vincent.
