Jukun Mask

9. A rare head mask aku wunu dating to the first half of the 20th century. These masks were used in ceremonies that mourned the death of a member of the elite, the royal family or other important members of society. This mask represents the male as apposed to the Aku Wauwa that relates to a female. Purchased in the late 1960’s.
