Gbandi Horn

7. An interesting oliphant with a silver plaque hallmarked Sheffield 1916 that reads ” Gbandi war horn. Given to Major G.V.Hart while employed on the Anglo-Liberian boundary commission by the chief of Belahun. 9th March 1914″  Some losses and cracks, the silver plaque was loose and has been reattached.

“The Anglo-Liberian Boundary Commission, also known as the Liberia–Sierra Leone border commission, was a joint commission established to demarcate the border between Liberia and Sierra Leone, a British colony at the time. This commission was crucial in settling border disputes and establishing the precise boundaries between the two territories”
