Churinga

51. An interesting churinga, probably dating to the 19th century. This board could have been de-consecrated by breaking it in two, it could have also have been ceremonially broken or just broken and then repaired by holding it together with added notches and wires, we will never know. It is definitely an older and larger  example with profuse designs to both sides.

Central desert.

62cm long and 9cm wide.

Ex Toby Jack, London.
