Aboriginal Axe

124. An early Aboriginal axe Kodj. Many of these axes were collected in the early part of the 19th century. The head is formed from two seperate knapped stones (probably dolerite) attached with a large ball of Xanthorrhoea resin  This example has a very well patinated shaft and traces of red ochre on the head. 18th/19th century.
